I woke up around 10 with stomach pains. 7-11 is a great place to buy chips and soda, but I strongly recommend not buying kimchi there, especially not after 10 pm.

I rode to the bank to deposit my tips and talk about a debt consolidation loan, bad then I went to Safeway to test my blood pressure which hasn’t gone down. I was hungry and indecisive so I rode around for over an hour trying to find something I wanted for lunch. I ended up going to a sushi place that serves dishes from a conveyor belt. I went home and started dinner and watched a movie while I transferred music from my dinosaur of a lap top to my Surface. Rebecca came home and we had dinner and then I watched another movie. I went in to work after Rebecca went to bed to sign the paperwork for the shift I am picking up tomorrow night.

I did get a letter from the department of education saying they had received my application and I was a qualified candidate for the job. I usually get letters that regret to inform me that I do not match the qualifications, so I was happy.

I woke up and did mostly nothing until I went to work. It is too cold to go to the beach, and I was feeling too lazy to go on a hike.

I got to work early and stretched out. I found out that there is another mandatory meeting next Wednesday, but luckily this one is in the afternoon and not early in the morning. Halfway through the shift I was wishing I had another job. I was doing the cash deposits again tonight which was uneventful. I made it home around 11:30 and went to bed.

I started work at noon today. The regional manager was in this week and made the decision to no longer make us roll silverware at the end of our shifts. All of the managers who hated the idea in the first place were relieved because it would drop the labor costs.

It was a slow start to a slow shift. I ended up being sent home around 3:30. I went straight from work to the theater because Rebecca had a meeting and wouldn’t be home until much later. I picked up a soda and snacks on the way to the theater and made it inside just before it started pouring down rain. Every Tuesday the theater has a special for $6 tickets and $1 hot dogs. I grabbed a couple hot dogs and settled in to watch a movie about three friends who travel though time using a magical hot tub.

I went home and Rebecca and I watched the latest episode of The Walking Dead and then I relaxed on the couch before going to bed early.

I started my morning shift with a huge mug of iced coffee. About an hour into the shift I woke up. The regional manager came in today from the mainland. He didn’t talk to any of us hourly employees, but 3 of my managers came up to me at different times to tell me that I needs to shave the edges of my beard to make it look “cleaner”. I was also given a new apron.

As I was explaining our specials to a lady, she held up her hand t my face and told me to go away. Later on in her meal she began waving her used napkin at me. I walked over to her and she kept waving it implying that she needed a new one. I said “can I get something for you?”  She pointed at her napkin and I pretended not to understand. She rolled her eyes and said “I need mor napkins.” I pointed at the roll of paper towels at the edge of her table and walked away.

I got home at 5 and headed to my doctors appointment. My blood pressure medication is only helping slightly so I was instructed to double up the dose. When i asked about my sore feet from my fallen arches he and tge medical student helping him had me lay on the table while they poked around finding a bone herniating out of place. While they pushed it back in, my calf cramped up. The pain in my foot was gone, but now my calf is sore.

I went home and had dinner and watched iron man 3 and went to bed around 11.

We went to church and had Jack in the Box for lunch on the way home. I relaxed before my bar shift at 4.

I was working with the lead bartender who is married and a little older than I am. We have a lot more in common than the 19-23 year old servers and I do.

He had heard that I was looking for a full time job to escape the restaurant industry. He told me that I was doing a great job begind the bar, and with a little time and patience I would be working in the bar a lot more and earning more money.

We made it out of there before 12:30 and I went home to sleep before having to be back at 11 tomorrow.

Feb 21st, 2015

I woke up at 9 and Rebecca and I had breakfast. Rebecca went to run errands while I tried to wake up. She gave up trying to find a parking spot at the mall and came home to find me watching movie trailers for movies that came out years ago.

I headed to work. It was a busy shift and I was in a busy section. My first two tables had complaints about the food. My next table was 12 people from Canada. They were split into 2 tables. At the end of the meal a guy came up to me and said he wanted to pay for everything. I got $12 on a $370 bill. Right after that party I was sat a 9 top of people from New Zealand.

By the end of the night, I had sold over $1,500 worth of food and drinks. $800-$1,000 worth of sales is a pretty good night. I didn’t even make 10% of my sales, which is a bad night. I was ready to quit halfway into the shift. One bad table at the beginning of the shift can set a bad mood that will affect me for the rest of the night.

I didn’t leave until 12:30. I went straight home and fell in to a sleeping pill induced slumber.

When I woke up this morning, my nostrils were clogged worse than a garden hose filled with gravy. Nothing I did brought relief. It was a mixture of seasonal allergies and the vog that blows in from the volcano on the big island.

By the time I got to work, my second handkerchief of the day was mostly wet. I kept it in my apron pocket because every time I would look down, stuff would leak out of my nose and into my mustache. Every time I went to a table I had to hold my head way up, I imagine I looked like the teenage villain in a bad 80’s movie.

I was working behind the bar, which was better because I could hide my handkerchief from the customers easier. By the time I made it home, I was able to wring out the handkerchief like a wash cloth.

I made it home around 1 and took a hot shower which brought some relief.

I woke up and made breakfast and headed to the beach. I splashed around and swam for a while and then I went for a ride. I rode around diamond head, and then went inside the crater. There is a tunnel leading in to the hiking area that made my moped sound awesome. On my way down the hill I spotted two new valleys I had not yet explored. I spent the next two hours riding around looking at houses I would like to live in.

I had just gotten home and was about to start dinner when Rebecca called and said she wanted pizza. Not one to turn down pizza, I placed an order and went to pick it up as soon as she got home. We watched the first Transformers movie and then I took a nap to work off the pizza I had just eaten. It was just a quick nap, but enough to give me a jolt of energy that would keep me up much longer than I was hoping for.

Feb 17th, 2015

I woke up and got ready for my day off. I rode to Waikiki and people watched for awhile and then I rode along the front of Diamond Head. Rebecca called and asked me to pick up some printer ink so I went in search of an office supply store.

I went home and started dinner and then we watched the latest episode of the Walking Dead and then I stayed up until 2 am reading about various comic book characters on Wikipedia.
